April is also National Poetry Month be sure to check out our Poetry display at the Reference Desk, enter our poetry contest http://www.lclibs.org/lebanon/poetryentryform2007.pdf, & attend out poetry event - Pennsylvania Poets on Pennsylvania on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 from 6:30-8pm - Join published poet and Pennsylvania Humanities Council Speaker, Jeanne Murray Walker, discuss poems that reflect the small towns, landscapes, cities, customs andrituals of the Commonwealth. Also check out http://www.poets.org from The Academy of American Poets - they have poet profiles, essays & interviews, poetry by occasion, and a great calendar which promotes poetry events all across the U.S. Our event is even listed! Wow!
And April is Jazz Appreciation Month so check out our Jazz display near the newspaper section in the library, (just outside the computer center). Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald are featured on the posters, and lots of facinating jazz titles are available for check out. Also don't forget our jazz CDs! And finally, stop by the Smithsonian's Jazz Appreciation website http://www.smithsonianjazz.org/start.asp They also have a calendar of national jazz events in April, a Duke Ellington online exhibit & interactive class, plus a jazz discussion board!
